INSiGHT Scans
At Deep Rooted Chiropractic, we utilize advanced CLA insIght scanning technology to objectively assess the function and adaptability of the nervous system. This state-of-the-art technology provides critical insights that help us tailor care plans to the unique needs of each individual, whether they are a newborn, a child, or a pregnant mother.
The central nervous system is the body’s communication network, influencing every function from digestion to cognitive processing. When the nervous system is under stress, it can affect overall health and well-being. We utilize insight scans because it allows us to pinpoint areas of neurological stress, measure the impact of that stress, and monitor progress throughout care.
How The Nervous System Communicates
Think of the nervous system as a two-way street, constantly sending and receiving messages. There are two main types of nerves involved in this process:
Sensory Nerves: These nerves transmit information from both the external environment (such as temperature or touch) and the internal environment (such as organ function) to the brain and brainstem. They essentially report what is happening both inside and outside the body.
Motor Nerves: These nerves carry signals from the brain and spinal cord to muscles, organs, and tissues, directing them on what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. They are responsible for motor control and coordinated movement.
Given that the nervous system must maintain clear, rapid communication with over 37 trillion cells in the body, optimal function is essential. It’s like having a state-of-the-art communication network operating at lightning-fast speeds. When neurological stress disrupts these pathways, it can be likened to operating at dial-up speed rather than the 5G-level function we are naturally designed for.
This is especially crucial in the early stages of life. During the first year, a child’s brain doubles in size, and during the first 3-7 years, it continues to grow and develop rapidly. Ensuring clear neurological communication during this critical period is vital, making the CLA insIght Scan one of the most important assessments for understanding how well a child’s nervous system is functioning.
Thermal Scanning (Thermography)
This scan assesses temperature differences along the neurospinal system to detect areas of inflammation, nerve irritation, or interference. The nervous system regulates blood flow to maintain consistent temperature, so abnormalities in temperature patterns can indicate underlying neurological stress and can point to specific systems that are being impacted. This can help us understand what’s going on in our patients who are struggling with things such as colic, reflux, constipation, chronic ear infections, allergies, adrenal dysfunction, and sleep disorders.
Surface Electromyography (sEMG)
sEMG measures electrical activity in the neuromusclar system to evaluate how the nervous system controls energy output. This scan can identify stuck tension, imbalance, altered tone, asymmetry and exhaustion in specific regions of the neuromotor system. The sEMG scan serves as the most important form of testing we can do when conditions like Autism, Sensory Integration Disorders, ADHD, and Anxiety are being investigated.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
HRV gives us a broad picture of our patient’s neurological health. It measures the balance between the sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous systems. This scan indicates how well the body adapts to stress and how efficiently it recovers.
Benefits of CLA INSiGHT Scans
Objective Assessment: INSiGHT Scans provides measurable data on nervous system function, allowing us to detect areas of neurological stress that may not yet present physical symptoms. This objective data is critical in establishing a baseline for care and monitoring progress over time.
Customized Care Plans: By analyzing data from thermal scans, sEMG, and HRV, we can develop targeted chiropractic care plans that are specifically tailored to the needs of each patient, whether it is a newborn with colic or a child with sensory processing challenges.
Tracking Progress: These scans are done during our progress appointments and provide quantifiable data that allows us to objectively measure improvements in nervous system function over the course of care. This enables us to adjust care plans to ensure optimal outcomes and continued progress.
Early Detection: Identifying patterns of stress, tension, or imbalance in the nervous system before they manifest as physical symptoms is a powerful preventive measure. It enables us to address potential health concerns early, potentially preventing the development of chronic conditions.
At Deep Rooted Chiropractic, we are committed to providing evidence-based, neurologically focused care. Our CLA insIght scans empower us to deliver the most precise, targeted adjustments to support optimal nervous system function and overall health.
